She Will Serve

As An Intern To

Franklin In '08-'09

The Greeneville City Schools announced Thursday that Beth Ricker has been selected to intern with Vivian Franklin during the 2008-09 school year and to assume Franklin's position as assistant principal for instruction at Greeneville High School upon her retirement.

Ricker graduated in 1986 from Tennessee Wesleyan College with a bachelor's degree in education and in 1992 from Tusculum College with a master's degree in education.

Ricker began her career at Calhoun Elementary School in Athens, teaching math in grades 6-8, and has been a math teacher at Greeneville High School since 1987.

She has been recognized as a leader by her peers having been nominated as GHS's Teacher of the Year in 1990 and again in 2005.

Ricker is married to Chris Ricker and is the mother of two daughters, Ansley and Alora.

Dr. Vicki Kirk, assistant director for instruction, said, "I am pleased that Beth will be filling this position for us. The opportunity for her to work with Mrs. Franklin during a portion of each day during 2008-09 will be invaluable as we plan administrative transition at Greeneville High School. Mrs. Ricker is well-respected by all with whom she works, and I am excited to have the opportunity to work with her."

The school system continues in the hiring process for a new principal at GHS.

GHS Principal Jerry Ayers will move to the Greeneville-Greene County Center for Technology next year to succeed longtime principal Jerry Renner, who is retiring.
