October was the third-wettest month of 2009 in Greene County, according to data provided by the University of Tennessee Research & Education Center on East Allens Bridge Road.
Rainfall from Jan. 1 to Oct. 31 at the center has totaled 39.41 inches.
Total annual rainfall at the center has averaged 44.28 inches over the last 30 years.
Rainfall for November at the center has averaged three inches, while December rainfall has averaged 3.42 inches.
If those average amounts of rainfall are realized this year, the center's total for 2009 will total 45.83, or about an inch-and-a-half above average for the year.
The center measured 4.27 inches of rainfall for October, according to an electronic spreadsheet provided by center spokeswoman Amelia Rader.
Rainfall in June totaled 6.91 inches, the most measured in a single month so far this year.
The January total of 4.68 inches was the second-heaviest monthly total recorded at the center this year.
Average rainfall for the month of October over the last 30 years has been 2.35 inches.
The spreadsheet indicates that October is normally the driest month of the year at UT Research and Education Center.
