Greeneville police are investigating a Monday night incident on Carson Street in which a pizza-delivery driver was the victim of a hit-and-run driver.
The victim was identified this morning as James Morgan, 25, of the Asheville Highway, who was treated and released, according to a spokesman for Wellmont Health System.
The incident occurred about 8:50 p.m. Monday in the 1000 block of Carson Street as Morgan was returning to his parked vehicle after delivering a pizza, according to a GPD dispatcher.
Both Morgan and his parked 1991 Chevrolet Cavalier were struck by 2001 Dodge Neon sedan that fled the scene, according to a report filed by GPD Officer Kenni Carter.
After being hit by the Dodge Neon, Morgan managed to crawl back to the house at which he had delivered a pizza to seek help, police said.
He was taken by a Greene County-Greeneville Emergency Medical Services ambulance to Takoma Regional Hospital for treatment, a GPD dispatcher said.
The alleged hit-and-run vehicle was later found abandoned near the Johnson City Chemical Co. warehouse on the Asheville Highway, according to a GPD dispatcher.
The abandoned vehicle was registered to a Morristown man who had not been located as of this morning, police said.
When Morristown police went to the address listed on the car's registration they were told the registered owner of the car had moved, a GPD dispatcher said.
