The Middle Nolichucky Watershed Alliance will have a full agenda when it meets on Thursday, May 15, at 8 a.m. in the U.S. Soil Conservation office on North College Street.

Requests will be open for proposals to build a retention pond at the parking lot of the closed Wal-Mart on 11-E, an area now owned by Ingles Market.

In addition, plans will be discussed for a major conference May 29 in Erwin with all watershed alliance groups in the 10 counties that the Nolichucky River runs through, from North Carolina to Douglas Lake.

Sherry Wong, the assistant director for the Tennessee Department of Environment & Conservation (TDEC), is scheduled to attend the conference.

Mayors, county executives and other top officials from all 10 counties have been invited to attend, said Paul Hayden, Greene County soil conservationist.

At Thursday's meeting the MNWA will also:

* discuss the annual grant that TVA is expected to soon give MNWA;

* hear a report on the cleanup of College Creek in Greene County;

* receive reports on Holly and Richland creeks, also located in Greene County.
