Man Sentenced To 8 Years In Death Of Wife

Greene County truck driver Darryl Colyer has been sentenced to eight years in prison in the accidental death of his wife.

Andrea "Annie" Ricker, 25, was killed on Feb. 15, 2008, when she was struck by the tractor-trailer Coyler was attempting to park at Yoder's Country Cured Hams, in Bulls Gap near the intersection of South VFW Road and U.S. Highway 11E

Colyer, 29, was sentenced to the eight-year prison term on Friday in Rogersville by Circuit Judge John Dugger.

The fatal accident occurred at 7:10 p.m. about a year and a half ago, according to a report filed by THP Trooper Leon Marshall.

According to a Tennessee Highway Patrol report, it was found that the incident was unintentional, but alcohol was involved.

It was determined that Colyer's blood alcohol level was 0.16 percent -- double the legal limit.

The couple had resided at 784 Rambo Rd. in Greene County.
