A man and his two sons escaped their burning Blue Springs Parkway mobile home without injury early this morning, according to the Greene County Sheriff's Department
A report filed by Deputy Sheriff Kevin Guinn said he was dispatched shortly after 4 a.m. to a fire at 7709 Blue Springs Parkway in Mosheim.
Upon his arrival, according to his report, Guinn found firefighters from the Town of Mosheim Fire Department battling the fire.
The report said Wayne Warner, who had been renting the single-wide mobile home, which also was occupied by his sons Jeremiah and Chris, told Guinn that he had heard a humming sound following by a popping sound coming from an area near the mobile home's electric fuse box.
Warner, according to the report, then went to his sons' room and saw flames there. The report said Warren and his two sons immediately fled the mobile home through a rear door and escaped without injury.
"The mobile home appeared to be a total loss," Deputy Guinn wrote in his report.
The Sheriff's Department's report said the mobile home was owned by Troy Cutshall, but noted that Deputy Guinn had been unable to contact Cutshall at the time the report was filed.
Fire Chief Comments
Jessie Lowery, chief of the Town of Mosheim Fire Department, said firefighters were dispatched to the fire by Greene County 911 at 4:05 a.m. The first firefighters reached the scene at 4:08 a.m., he said.
"We had the fire under control at 4:19 a.m.," Chief Lowery added.
But despite the rapid response by firefighters, the interior of the mobile home was "gutted" by flames, the chief said.
He reported that three trucks and 15 firefighters responded to the fire. Firefighters, he said, remained on the scene until about 5:50 a.m.
Also responding to the fire, in addition to the Town of Mosheim Fire Department and Deputy Guinn, were a disaster services unit from the Greene County Chapter of the American Red Cross, a Greeneville Light & Power System crew, and the Greeneville Emergency & Rescue Squad.
