Jack Lister, Takoma Regional Hospital's director of human resources, has been named the chairman of the Public Service Division for the 2010 United Way Campaign, Brenda Parrish-Dickmann, the campaign's chairman, has announced.
Lister is a long-time United Way volunteer who is currently serving on the United Way of Greene County Allocations Committee.
He said, "The United Way is a great way to extend the ministry of Christ ... Jesus helped the sick, the poor, the weak, and the hungry ... the same people that United Way helps. Individually we can't do much, but collectively, we can make a big difference."
Parrish-Dickmann said, "United Way is very fortunate to have Jack at the helm of the Public Service Division. He has a sincere passion for helping others and we are delighted to have him on our team. His extensive service on the United Way board and as a United Way volunteer will be valuable in leading the Public Service Division."
The Public Service Division includes local hospitals, colleges, nursing homes, city and county school systems, and the federal, state, city and county governments.
Lister, with the help of other volunteers, will be instrumental in helping United Way of Greene County reach its goal of serving more than 27,000 Greene County residents through United Way-funded agencies.
Lister has served on the board of directors for the American Red Cross-Greene County Chapter, the United Way of Greene County and currently serves on the Industry Advisory Board of the Center for Technology.
He attends First Baptist Church, where he is a member of the Deacon Counsel.
Lister graduated from East Tennessee State University with a degree in business administration and has worked in human resources for the past 25 years. Lister's wife, Ginger, is a teacher at Nolachuckey Elementary School.
