Two residences in different parts of Greene County were destroyed by fires this weekend.
One fire was reported between 2:30 and 3 a.m. on Saturday at the residence of Jackie Knight, 1545 Old Milburnton Rd., Limestone.
The second fire was reported shortly after midnight Sunday at the residence of Willis Fillers, 10105 107 Cutoff.
No injuries were reported, according to the Greene County Sheriff's Department.
According to a report filed by Sheriff's Deputy David Love, Knight, 53, said he awoke to the smell of smoke and has no idea of how the fire started.
Knight told Love the fire was burning in a rear bedroom of the house when he awoke, according to the report.
The white frame house and its contents were listed on the report as total losses. No value was listed.
The Limestone Volunteer Fire Department responded.
SECOND FIRE
A report filed by Sheriff's Lt. Wesley Holt said Joe Fillers, a passerby, said that early Sunday morning, shortly after midnight, he saw flames coming from the home of Willis Fillers at 10105 107 Cutoff, then called 911.
Apparently, no one was home at the time of the fire.
When firefighters arrived, heavy flames were found in the rear porch area of the home, according to Holt's report.
Flames had entered the attic area when Sheriff's Department personnel arrived.
The home and its contents, valued at $120,000, were listed as a total loss.
The South Greene and Cedar Creek volunteer fire departments responded.
