A Greene County man who was seriously injured in a May 26 brush-burning accident remained in stable condition this morning at the Vanderbilt University Medical Center's burn unit in Nashville

Anthony Wayne Park, 46, of 365 Phillipi Church Road, Bulls Gap, was seriously burned about 8 p.m. Tuesday, May 26.

Park had poured gasoline onto a brush pile, then had placed a gasoline can on the ground some distance from the brush pile before attempting to set the brush on fire. Moments later, a witness heard an explosion, followed by screams.

The Sheriff's Department report said Park appeared to have suffered first-, second- and third-degree burns over a large portion of the front of his body.

After being treated at the scene by Greene County-Greeneville Emergency Medical Services personnel, Park was flown to the Johnson City Medical Center.

After treatment at the JCMC, Park was flown to the Vanderbilt University Medical Center in Nashville.
