Medic Regional Blood Center will be collecting two blood donations later this month on these days:

* Tuesday, Dec. 29, from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m., at Food Country, 6766 W. Andrew Johnson Hwy., Mosheim;

* Wednesday, Dec. 30, from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m., at Lowe's, 2375 E. Andrew Johnson Hwy.

Donors must be at least 17 years of age and weigh at least 110 pounds or more. Donors who are age 16 and weigh at least 120 pounds or more can donate blood with parental consent.

Medic is the sole provider of blood and blood products for 28 area hospitals in East Tennessee, including both Takoma Regional and Laughlin Memorial hospitals in Greeneville.

Donors will receive a year's membership toward Medic's Family Blood Coverage Program which exempts donors and their IRS dependents from paying blood collection and processing fees at any U.S. hospital if a transfusion is needed.

Donors will also receive a free t-shirt and a cholesterol evaluation (no fasting required).
