Two witnesses who were headed west on the Bypass said the bicyclist pulled into the path of the westbound car in front of them, according to a report by Greeneville Police Officer Craig Duncan.
The cyclist was identified as Steven Paul Bishop, 20, of 413 Volunteer St.
Linda Gale Crum, 54, of 1100 Heritage Road, Chuckey, was identified as the driver of the 2008 Nissan Sentra that collided with the bicycle and rider.
According to the report, Bishop was wearing headphones at the time of the crash, and did not yield the right of way to the car on the 11E Bypass.
A JCMC spokesperson said this morning that Bishop was in "good" condition.
Officer Duncan reported, "The bicycle was crossing Andrew Johnson Highway from the exit of the Phoenix Theatre, rode across the turnaround and rode out in front of" a vehicle headed west on the Bypass."
