Congregation Seeks To Raise Funds After Fire
Destroyed Church

"Second Century of Hope" cookbooks are now on sale.
They were produced by the congregation of Baileyton United Methodist Church to raise funds to help rebuild their century-old church building, which was destroyed by fire last November.
The cookbook, which contains 1,200 recipes, is available for purchase from any church member at $18 each.
Those wishing to purchase cookbooks may contact either Myra Moore at 234-2632 or Nikki Pierce at 234-3511.
The coobook's cover is said to be strikingly attractive.
"The front cover shows he church surrounded by a section of one of the stained glass windows," a press release said.
"The back cover shows each of the stained windows created by Tom Farrar Sr. and Tom Farrar Jr. to form a cross with a Bible verse at the bottom."
The cookbook project began in the fall of last year and was intended originally to fund a new roof that was to be placed on the 102-year-old Baileyton UMC building, according to a press release.
The release continued, "Sadly, our church was destroyed by fire over the Thanksgiving weekend. What began as a church cookbook project developed into a community effort to compete the cookbook project as recipe after recipe flooded into our church, coming from all parts of Tennessee and other parts of the nation.
"From the beginning, our church has been surrounded by the love and comfort of our neighbors. Our church would like to thank all who sent recipes, kind words, and prayers to help us complete this project.
"We will continue to need your prayers as we begin the more difficult task of rebuilding our church building in the coming months. Thank you all your support as we go through this process."
Benefit Car Show Set
A car show for the benefit of the church will also be held Saturday, May 10, at the Baileyton Elementary School grounds from 10 a.m. until 3 p.m. The cookbook will be available for purchase at the car show.
