rue21Etc., a clothing store for young people, plans to open a store on March 18 in the Greeneville Commons, according to Angela Wilson, the store's district manager.
The rue21 chain describes itself as a "fast-growing specialty retailer offering the newest fashion trends for girls and guys at value prices."
Wilson said the store expects to employ four managers, three full-time and one part-time, as well as eight to 10 part-time sales associates, and will be using about 20 temporarily employed workers to help prepare the store before opening.
To interview job applicants, Wilson said she will be at the Comfort Inn in Greeneville this Saturday from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m., and those seeking employment should come there during those hours.
The company operates more than 500 stores in 43 states, including locations in Kingsport and Bristol, but not in Johnson City.
Wilson said rue21's newest stores are named rue21Etc., as the Greeneville store will be.
The company says its merchandise "is designed to appeal to 11- to-17-year-olds who aspire to be '21,' and to adults who want to look and feel '21'."
In connection with the new store, which will be in a currently vacant Greeneville Commons location, rue21 filed a $290,000 local building permit.
The new store will be next to the Southern Belle Bridal Boutique where the Randstad employment office had been located.
The rue21 chain was started in 1977 in Warrendale, Pa.
