Greeneville native Matt P. Laws IV moved this past weekend from San Antonio, Texas, to Seattle, Wash., where he has been appointed a vice president with Cox Media Group.
Cox Media is re-launching its flagship station KIRO, a CBS televison affiliate.
Laws said in an interview that he will be designing a new set and new graphics.
At the moment, Laws said, the station is "No. 2 in the market. We're going to take it to No. 1."
His position with Cox Media, as a vice president of creative, is a promotion, he said, that entails "a lot more responsibility."
He will work mainly in Seattle, but will "consult with other Cox stations across the country."
WON EMMY LAST FALL
In San Antonio, Laws last fall was part of a team that won a Lone Star EMMY for his promotional campaign on the "60 Years of San Antonio project." He was director of creative services for station WOAI News 4.
The EMMY was in the category Promotion - News Promo - Campaign/Image - News 4 WOAI 60 Year Image Campaign.
The award was presented during the seventh annual Lone Star EMMY gala held at Gilley's Palladium Ballroom in Dallas.
Laws is the son of Janie (Williams) and Matt Laws III of Greeneville.
