Chuck Whitfield, president and CEO of Laughlin Memorial Hospital was named recently by the Business TN magazine as one of the top 25 hospital operators in Tennessee.
Whitfield was recognited in the magazine's September 2009 issue.
Business TN recognized Whitfield's success in directing the operations of Laughlin Memorial Hospital.
The article noted that under Whitfield's leadership, Laughlin Hospital has undergone multi-million dollar construction projects resulting in, among other things, Greeneville's first cardiac catheterization lab and construction of a third medical office building.
The magazine said Whitfield and Laughlin Hospital also played important roles in encouraging the development of East Tennessee State University's College of Pharmacy, pledging $100,000 to that project.
ETSU's College of Pharmacy is now in its fourth year.
Whitfield has served as chairman of the Tennessee Hospital Association's board of directors and is currently a board member of the Hospital Alliance of Tennessee.
He has earned fellow status in the American College of Healthcare Executives, the highest level of achievement in this professional society of healthcare professionals.
